Volcanic activity in Bárðarbunga, Dyngjujökull and Askja

For several weeks now, people in Iceland have been hammering the refresh buttons of the news sites and the weather bureau, eager to see if an eruption has started or not.

Geologists are closely monitoring the quakes and the lava-intrusion in Vatnajökull glacier and now north of Vatnajökull.

Icelandic geologists have a reputation for knowing a thing or two about volcanos and eruptions. But, they have never been up against something as big as seems to be brewing now.
